Updates for 17th June
2005
Kicking up the leaves falling at our
feet
That
is NOT all
• Once again ImpulsiveCompulsiveInsane
has teamed up with Barenaked-Bar
and we've got a big treat for everyone. I know. We spoil you. Just
the kind of people we are. The lovely Greg at Flagship
Records (that description suits him, dontcha think?) has arranged
for us to do an interview with Steven Page regarding
his new The Vanity Project album (available on
Flagship Recordings, released 21st June - go
buy now!).
And guess what? Not only can you
ask the questions, there's also a prize giveaway, with prizes including
a signed TVP full-length CD, promo CD samplers, and lots of promo
photos and postcards. You're going to have to work for it though
- we want your questions! The best ones will be picked to be put
to Steve and all email addresses will be entered into the prize
draw. It's what you might call a win-win situation! Hurrah.
Get
emailing, and the only rule is that the questions must
not be BORING (any question that I already know the answer to will
stand very little chance of being asked, I promise you that!). Make
them funny, interesting, intelligent or daft and you'll be in with
a good chance of getting the answer straight from the horse's mouth.
Not that Steve bears any resemblance to a horse. Oh, and I would
say the main subject should be TVP, probably not BNL so much. That
I've noticed anyway. Go. Think. Email your question(s) by 25 June
(midnight GMT).
We'll post the interview here and at Barenaked-bar
as soon as we can and winners will be announced here and informed
by email by the end of June.

News from 9th May 2005...
There is some exciting news afoot, care of Mr
Steven Page - he's about to release a new album on 21st
June, entitled The Vanity Project! The
album is in collaboration with long-time pal and writing partner
Stephen Duffy,
and all but one of the songs on the album are written by the two
of them. The album isn't due to be released in the UK/Europe
anytime soon, but we will be able to order through Amazon
on import, so that's nearly as good. To hear the first single, That's
All, That's All, click the banner below or visit the Flagship
Records site (you'll need the Real Audio player).
Roll on 21st June!

A Barenaked Wonderland
• The lovely Barenaked Ladies were generous
enough to talk to Shaun
and I again while they were in the UK promoting the new Holiday
album... read our exclusive interview here
to find out about small rodents' heads, mince pies, humping dogs,
oh and some quite interesting stuff about the band, their music
and their plans for the coming year.
Tea
and Cake with the Barenaked Ladies
• Read
the previous interview from the Everything to Everyone tour in May.

Site
I'm gradually fixing all the problems that moving to a different
server has produced... I think most of the links work again now.
It took me all day, so I bloomin' hope they do! I'm working on the
guestbook and postcards and once that's done, will be sorting out
the photo gallery.
Mailing list:
• Don't forget the mailing
list. It's basically for UK/European fans to keep each other
up to date, but we don't bite if you're not based here! I usually
(when I remember) drop the list a line once I update the site. If
you can't join from the web page, mail
me and I'll invite you.
About Impulsive Compulsive Insane
Bear with me. I'm gradually getting all the data
from the old site transferred into the new format. I'm hoping I
should get back into a news updating routine from now on - I know,
you've all heard that one before, eh?! Impulsive Compulsive Insane
was the result of a patch of relatively free time in 2000, frustration
at the lack of up-to-date info on Barenaked
Ladies, especially in the UK, and a need
to learn some basic html skills fairly quickly. Oh, plus the fact
that I'm kind of obsessively into their music and seeing them live
is always, always a complete joy. Since I set the site up I've met
lots of great people, interviewed the band three times and seen
them play live many, many times (never was much good at all that
complicated counting stuff). The updates haven't been so regular
these past couple of years. ho hum.
If you want to get involved, I'd love to hear any
gossip/news you have, or if you want me to put a show review on
the site, just mail
me (nic)!
* They're a bunch of fully-clothed
men who play jolly splendid music. I won't apologise to those of
you who wandered in here expecting something slightly, ummm, more
risque. Just remember one thing - it makes you go blind.
